It has come to our attention that there is a vaping problem here at Sumner High School. Most people don’t even know the potential health risks that come with vaping. Proplyene Glycol is one of the key ingredients found in most vape juice, which has not been approved by the FDA to inhale. While you are able to digest in chemical, the lungs are unlike the stomach, in which you are unable to break down chemicals in your lungs. This means that the chemicals and aerosol in vape juice clog up your lungs.

Other substances in vape juice include diacetyl, and 2, 3-pentanedione. These substances cause constrictive bronchiolitis obliterans, more popularly known as “Popcorn Lung”. This causes tiny air sacs in the lungs which scar, and thickens and narrows the airways. Diacetyl is found more in vape juices or pods that contain a sweeter flavor.

The most popular forms of vapes are Juuls’, Vape Mods, and Suorin Air and Drop. The easiest form to conceal is Juul. It’s easily concealed because of how small it is, and looks similar to a USB drive. The “smoke” can also be held in the lungs to the point where no vapor will come out. This makes it very easy for students to use their device in class.
