The Sumner high school girls soccer team has always been a team to watch and they’ve proven that over the past decade, making it to state each year. Last week’s win against Auburn Mountainview continued their streak to 11 years. The soccer team finished the regular season in second place right under rival team Puyallup. Losing the seeding game last Saturday to Bellarmine put them at the seventh seed and will send them off the Spokane this Tuesday to play Gonzaga Prep who is ranked #3 in Washington state. The Sumner soccer team is quite familiar with playing in Spokane and the memories that come with it are not positive. Last year the team traveled east to play Central Valley, winner to the final. It was a close game that ended up going into PKs where Sumner lost it after going all the way to 10 shooters, ending their season right there. That was what knocked them out of the playoffs and they are determined to find victory in Spokane this year.
