Thursday’s game against Camas was one of the most intense this season. The first quarter of the game started off slow with both teams ending their first drives in punts, the second drive for Camas ended in an interception from #6 Donovan Clark. After a fumble from Austin Grondahl on Sumners 2nd drive Sumner quickly got the ball back with the help of another Donovan Clark interception. Sumner wasn’t be able to use the turnover to their advantage as the drive ended in a punt. The first score of the game would come with 6:00 minutes left in the 2nd quarter, #32 Bryce Bostick ran it into the end zone from a yard out to put 6 on the board, #37 Colton Sigafoos made the extra point to make in 7-0. On Camas’ 5th drive, Donovan Clark again comes up defensively with another interception, his 3rd in the half. Sumner’s offense took advantage on the turnover and scored again this time a 7 yard run from #31 Ra’Sun Williams, once again Colton Sigafoos nailed the extra point to make it 14-0 with 0:46 seconds left in the half. Sumner’s Black Flag defense kept Camas from scoring any point in the first half, the same team that had 41 points up on the board at half in their last game. Sumner came out of half slow with their drive ending in a punt, Camas’ offense seemed to have woken up after getting into field goal range but was stopped from getting any closer to the end zone, Camas attempted a field goal but was blocked and recovered by Bryce Bostick. Sumner drove down the field with ease and looked like they were going to put up points until they fumbled the ball in the red zone, but don’t panic because Donovan Clark came up big with his 4th interception in the game. Sumner’s drive ended in a crazy interception from Camas that was returned for a touchdown, Camas converted the extra point making the score 14-7. Sumner couldn’t answer back having to punt with 4:22 left in the game. Sumner’s defense was able to hold off Camas’ offense for a turnover on downs, Sumner ran down the clock but wasn’t able to end it after trying to convert a 4 and 1. Camas on the last drive of the game marched down the field they got ball inside the red zone 0:03 left in the game, #34 Brooks Morin sacked the Camas quarterback to end the game and give Sumner their 4th win of the season.
