The Sumner Spartan Baseball team hosted rival Bonney Lake in a non-league game Monday. But for the players it was more than just a rivalry baseball game, but a way to pay tribute and show their respects for recent fallen Panther Camron Cozzi.

Cozzi was a senior at Bonney Lake High School who was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) on Dec. 22, 2015. DIPG is a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer.

All of the players from both teams met at the mound and sent a prayer to Camron and his family. And then released balloons into the air in honor of Camron.

While the game is normally a rivalry, both teams came together as a brotherhood because of Camron. And even though he was a Panther, many players from Sumner were good friends with him growing up, and went to school with him before High School.

It was more than baseball on Monday, rather the bringing of an entire community together in honor of Camron Cozzi.
