Getting to Know Our New Theater Teacher

Samantha Owens , Student

In the midst of all the craziness this year with the pandemic, school shutdowns, and the mask wearing, we have gained a new theater teacher. Mrs. Kraemer-Thibodaux recently moved to the Sumner area from southeastern Louisiana.

Mrs. K-T, (as some of her students call her),: has taught 11th grade English at Ellender Memorial High School in Houma, LA, was a master teacher at West Thibodaux Middle School, in Thibodaux, LA, and taught English (10th-12th) at H.L. Bourgeois High School in Gray, LA.

Kraemer-Thibodaux’s plans for the theater department this year are “fluid.” She truly hopes to have the drama club up and running in December. For the spring production, she has considered many different things, but her “ultimate goal is to find a way to showcase students’ talents regardless of pandemic restrictions.” As we all know, this virus has caused many bumps in the road for people, but Mrs. K-T is ready for the challenge.

She and her husband have a chihuahua named Bindi. Mrs. K-T has been teaching for almost 19 years now and is excited to be joining the SHS staff.  We are all so thankful to have Mrs. Kraemer-Thibodaux with us this year, so make sure to give her a good Spartan welcome!
